About NEPA......

The objective of NEPA is to promote professionalism within our organization and to maintain open communication lines between equine veterinarians for the purpose of practice enhancement and referral.  To have strength through numbers in legislative, political, and professional matters related to equine practice, to achieve and maintain a professional image within the equine community, and to establish local opportunities for continuing education.

Formed in 1990 and originally known as NWEA (North West Equine Practitioners Association), the group was founded by Dr. Brent Millison, Dr. Ed Scott, and current Board Members Dr. Don Howard, Dr. Tim Phillips, and Dr. Ben Braat.   The name was later changed to NEPA, and membership has gown to over 90 equine practitioners.

NEPA Chapters

While most of the NEPA CE meetings and all of the NEPA Board meetings are held in the Portland Metro/Willamette Valley area, our Bylaws allow for the creation of regional chapters.  Currently, we have a Central Oregon chapter of NEPA, which meets regularly and participates in the organization of our Annual Winter Meeting in Bend.

Continuing Education

NEPA organizes five CE meetings annually.  Evening meetings in the Willamette Valley are typically held in October, November, January and March.  A ski weekend meeting is typically held in Bend, Oregon in March.  Upcoming NEPA continuing education meetings.  Click here to see the calender of upcoming meetings.
