Dear NEPA Member,
It is the Board’s pleasure to offer you an upcoming continuing education opportunity. On Tuesday, September 21, NEPA will host the first Dinner CE Meeting for the Fall of 2004. It will be held at the Wilsonville Or. Holiday Inn (North Wilsonville exit off I-5). Social hour will be from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm. Dinner will be served at 6:30pm, and our speakers will begin at 7pm.
Our speaker will be Robert Stenbom DVM, and his topic will be FDA - Approved Drugs, Compounded Drugs, and Renegade Drug Manufacturing: Current Issues for Equine Practitioners. Additionally, Mr. Gary Schnabel R.N., R.Ph., Executive Director of the Oregon Board of Pharmacy, will begin the evening with a presentation focused on the regulations associated with compounded pharmaceuticals and how their use impacts veterinarians, pharmacists, and clients.
Drug compounding is, by far, one of the most requested topics for discussion by NEPA members. This interest has skyrocketed in the last two years; likely related to liability and quality control concerns. Dr. Stenbom has addressed many veterinary medical associations nationally. His presentation is non-commercial, designed to review the legitimate formulation, distribution, and dispensation of these pharmaceuticals, and summarize the clinical, legal and ethical aspects of this issue. Mr Schnabel will discuss the Oregon regulations associated with compounding.
Dinner will be served at 6:30. Choice of dinner entree is Prime Rib or Broiled Salmon with Citrus Butter (Mouth Watering!) Please specify your preference in advance. Advanced reservations are required and limited to 40 attendees on a first-come first-served basis. Please notify me by fax or e-mail as time is short. I will send you confirmation of your reservation by fax, e-mail or regular mail.
This meeting is open to all current 2004 NEPA members and those who pay their 2004 dues by the meeting date. I am looking forward to this event and hope to see this room filled! Thank you for your participation.
Sincerely,
NEPA Board
